Tim Lancaster

acrylic on linen with proprietary glazes

40" x 50"

On a trip to Chicago in late October my wife and I stayed in a hotel room with an extraordinary wall of windows looking out over the Chicago River, the Navy Pier and Lake Michigan. While it poured down rain outside we turned off the lights, opened the curtainsand enjoyed a bottle of good red wine while drinking up the view through water beads, sparkles and rivers of rain on our wall of windows.

Some may see a castle, a water tower, or a remnant of old Chicago left on the river joining the big lake but I see the silhouette of my muse, the love of my life..

This painting is part of my American Tonalism series that were inspired by Rookwood Pottery plaques created in Cincinnati during the early 1900’s.
